Welcome to the 2008 ConventionThe 2008 Australian Regional Tourism Convention (ARTC) will be held over three days, September 9th - 12th, in the Barossa Region of South Australia. The theme for this years Convention is "Taking Tourism into the Future". We will be looking at challenges and transformations, skills shortages, environmental changes and the online environment. An exclusive ‘Captains of Industry Gala Dinner’ will be held in addition to the Convention Gala Dinner. The keynote address will be delivered by Peter Hurley, National Senior Vice-President and State President of the Australian Hotels Association (AHA); Chairman of Hospitality Group Training, the largest group apprenticeship and training scheme in South Australia; and Deputy Chairman of The Adelaide Football Club. Convention organisers have a few changes in store for this year’s event including a series of workshops run prior to the Convention by the Australian Regional Tourism Research Centre for the benefit of subscribers to the ARTN.
