The 2004 Convention was held in Lorne, Victoria. The "Sea Change Lorne" 2004 convention explored regional tourism for Australia under an overarching theme of Sustainability. Within this broad theme the program examined four elements: economic, environmental, community and self.

The inaugural event was held in Port Macquarie, New South Wales in September, 2001. The Convention involved three days of discussion and debate and resulted in a number of outcomes with national, state, and local significance.
