The ARTN are the proud producers of the annual Australian Regional Tourism Convention, the nation’s premier regional tourism event. Each year the Convention is held in a regional destination and attracts delegates from all states and territories and all sectors of the industry. Themed ‘Australia’s Regions ~ Ready, Resilient & Robust’, the 2010 Australian Regional Tourism Convention will explore what it takes to thrive in our ever changing economic, social and natural environments. Our host destination in 2010 is Victoria’s fabulous Yarra Valley and the Dandenongs region where field trips will provide a first hand look at the area’s incredible achievements following on from the devastating 2009 bush fires, and behind the scenes exploration at some of Victoria’s most iconic tourism experiences. Plenary sessions will feature world class speakers presenting on need to know topics and workshops will assist to hone delegates’ skills to make their day to day operations become more effective, efficient and enjoyable. Social functions will allow for invaluable networking opportunities and showcase very best of regional Victoria’s local produce. One of the unique and most revered attributes of the Convention is the encouragement of delegates to actively participate, with dedicated sessions for debate and cooperative development. These sessions are frequently the only chance for stakeholders from all facets of the industry – operators, local government, regional tourism organisations, state tourism organisations and federal government – to come together to discuss real regional issues in a neutral and supportive environment.
