Highly sophisticated online map services for travellers and tourism service providers. A new, revolutionary and free way to discover and promote Australia!
Bepacked is a 100% Australian owned and operated company which has just launched a new online travel service for Australia. Creators Dirk Eisner and Leopold Humbel say their aim was to create a reputable and independent website to help domestic and international travellers in their quest for the ‘Great Australian Experience’:
“the idea was to give travellers online tools to easily find relevant information about Australia and also tools to plan and document their trip. At the same time anyone should have an easy way to promote and describe what Australia has to offer” states Marketing Director Leopold Humbel.

There is growing reliance on the Internet for the promotion of tourism with consumer generated media leading the way. Consumers are relying more and more on the word and advice of fellow travellers before making travel commitments – a movement which could revolutionise the way tourism SMEs choose to market their services in the future.
Websites such as the Lonely Planets Blue list, Trip Advisor, MySpace and LinkedIn and trip planners such as Yahoo Trip Planner and IgoUgo are providing blogs, discussion boards and review sites where consumers can upload text, images, videos, podcasts, and vote or rank their favourite destinations.
Bepacked creator and Marketing Director Leopold Humbel boasts: “functionality and services on the bepacked.com.au website dwarf any similar existing services worldwide, including current travel and map services from big names like Google and Yahoo. We can honestly say that their big news in the press is just a light version of what is already a reality and currently available on bepacked.com.au.”
The services are based on a sophisticated, fast and interactive map of Australia with unprecedented tools for domestic/international travellers as well as for tourism service providers. By dropping a pin on the map users can add descriptions, pictures, contact details, facilities and transport information – there are no limits to how much material can be added and an easy to use control panel helps users change and enhance information at any time. |

Adding public information about towns, attractions, landmarks, historical sites etc is free. Adding information with a primary commercial interest (hostels, restaurants, tours, shops, pubs etc) is free for the first six months. After this time, bepacked.com will contact the business to check if they are interested in keeping their presence on the map for a modest annual fee of $99 inc GST. In essence, businesses can advertise their travel related business for free for six months - with no strings attached. |

Bepacked includes information about traveling in Australia specifically with international visitors in mind. The ‘Essential’ section covers subjects like visas, banking, health & safety, insurance, work and study in Australia, phones, internet and more. If travellers are looking for general information about Australia, there is an ‘About Australia’ section which covers facts & statistics, climate, history, sports, nature & wildlife, myths & fun stuff, things to do, the economy & government and even an overview of Aussie culture & slang. And bepacked also has a forum where users can add or read travel tips, buy or sell equipment, advertise for shared accommodation or transport or upload funny travel stories.
