Identifying Issues
Identification of local issues that relate to tourism is an important part of the planning process. It should be acknowledged that tourism related issues change over time and that different solutions, approaches and resources are needed to solve problems. Examples of localised issues may include:
- Managing parking and traffic congestion.
- Minimising the impact of events and festivals.
- Regulating bed and breakfast accommodation.
- Management of caravan parks.
- Preservation of character buildings, scenic quality and landscape amenity.
- Tourism signage.
- Disaster mitigation and management (e.g. the impacts of bushfire, flood, market events on tourism).
